In 2000, MBU established the Faith and Learning Committee to promote faith-learning integration among faculty. According to the Committee Handbook, the Faith and Learning Committee exists for two reasons: first, “to lead the university in fact-finding, research, and the gathering of primary data related to the integration of faith and learning”; and second, “to advise, counsel, and assist each faculty member in developing effective strategies for expressing faith and learning in each classroom and in every discipline.”
The Committee members are selected from each academic division, and the chairperson is appointed by the university president. The Committee’s activities involve publishing the faith and learning journal, representing MBU at the Michigan State University Conference on Christianity and Culture, and leading faculty-led chapel services, among others...
