Missouri Baptist University

Karen Kratzer

Why did you choose MBU?
I knew that I wanted to attend a Christian university. I really feel that God called me to MBU for not only the religious atmosphere, but also the classes and people.

What has, to date, been your favorite MBU event?
Hmmm…My fave MBU event…I really just appreciate anything where I can get out there and get involved and have fun. But if I had to narrow it down, I suppose it would be Spirit Week. There is so much to do, see, and be a part of. There’s so many ways to participate.

What defines you?
I would hope it to be Christ, first and foremost. But I think also it would be my joy, bold spirit, outgoing personality, and my love and compassion for people.

How does caffeine interrelate with your life?
It’s a nice little perk when I need it, or a plain old kick or jumpstart. When I worked in the University Communications department and the pot sat right next to me, it became an addiction and seemed to be life itself in liquid form. But now, it is merely a treat when I decide to splurge.

Favorite spot in St. Louis?
I would say probably Six Flags. It is all day fun. You can do pretty much anything there and nothing beats riding front seat in roller coasters all day. But the Fox or Muny are nice too when you feel a bit calmer and just want to experience fun from a chair.

How has MBU allowed you to experience your faith?
Chapel has been a great way for me to experience my faith, especially since J White came to MBU. I have been challenged, mentally and spiritually, as well as emotionally. The opportunities are finally being offered for me to reach back to Christ and I am sizing the opportunity and watching Him work in my life.

Favorite place to spend time at MBU?
Bywaters Lounge. Lounge crew for life! Besides there, Chapel or J white’s office trying to figure out how we can get more of Jesus on campus.

Favorite thing to do on a Thursday night?
If I can, I like to go to the Source.

What’s a typical weekend like for you?
Homework, work, church, and as much social activity as I can get.

Who is your hero?
Jesus. He died for me to save me.

Describe your Welcome Weekend experience.
It was great! I was drafted into the tribe of Issachar. I believe we spit Cheetos on a shaving cream covered Jenn Hendershot. It was also great because later my Mom and I seized an opportunity to pray together during chapel where we experienced the Lord’s presence and invited Him to walk through my college experience with me.

Where do you live (with roommates, parents, apartment, etc)?
I live with two roommates in a house just fifteen minutes from school. It is delightful!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I hope to be a Christian author. I also want to be a wife and stay-at-home mom. I want to be a woman who never stops seeking God’s face, pursuing His heart and His will.
