MBU Merit Scholarships

 

The following merit scholarships are automatic for new students entering in the Fall 2009 semester if they meet the stated requirements. Transfer students are students who have attempted 12 or more hours of college credit since the date of high school completion. None of these scholarships may be combined with an athletic scholarship offer. Additional Scholarships

 Ministerial
Major-$3,000 per year
Minor $1,500 per year

Directed by the Chairman of the Humanities Division. Must file application verifying public commitment to participate in a ministry of preaching, youth, religious education, music, or missions, Must be majoring or minoring in one of these areas.

Christian Service Award
$1,500 per year
Dependents of/or ministers, missionaries, church officials of the regular payroll, employees of Southern Baptist agencies, staff, faculty, or administrators of Christian High Schools (30 hour position). Complete Christian Service Scholarship Application.

Denominational Grant
$1,000 per year
Members in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church. A letter from the church is required yearly. Student must be an active participant in local church activities when available.

Christian High School Graduates
$500 per year
First-time freshmen who graduated from a Christian High School. (1st year only).

Church Matching
Up to $1,000 yearly
Church contributions toward a student's cost will be matched up to $500 per semester, not to exceed $1,000 per year. Church must submit a church contract provided by the college that verifies contributions are from a specified line item in the church budget. Signature of a church official is required.

Performance
Variable
Based on selection and participation in athletics, cheerleading, music, band, or Spirit Wing. Detailed information available from the respective areas.

EXCEL Grant
$500 per year
An incoming freshman student completing a minimum of six hours of credit through the EXCEL program (1st year only). Complete college admission and both an institutional and a federal application for financial aid.

Alumni Grant
Up to 50% of Tuition (Undergraduate); up to 30% of Tuition (Graduate - Main Campus Only)
Missouri Baptist University graduates who have earned a bachelor's degree at MBU. Must have completed bachelor's degree. File an institutional application for financial aid. File a federal application for financial aid.

Family Award
$1,500 per year
Students from the same immediate family who are enrolled during the same semester as full-time students. Includes parents, siblings, and spouses. Complete college admissions and both an institutional and federal application for financial aid.

 

State and Federal Grants

Access Missouri Grant
Qualified MBU students are eligible for up to $4,600 per year in grants from the state government. In order to qualify for these grants, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student AID (FAFSA) before April 1 preceding their anticipated fall enrollment. Students who do not qualify for Pell Grant may be eligible for this award!

Pell Grant (Federal)
Qualified MBU students are eligible for up to $4,310 per year in grants from the Federal Government. In order to qualify for these grants, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligibility is based on your estimated family contribution.

Missouri Teacher Scholarship
$2,000 per year
High school seniors, freshmen or sophomores at a four-year college or university in Missouri or community/ junior college students in Missouri ranking in the top 15% on the ACT or SAT. Must be Missouri resident and be enrolled in an accredited teacher training program. DEADLINE FEBRUARY 15. Application available from counselor.

Bright Flight
$2,000 per year
Missouri High school graduates who score in the top 3% Missouri students on the ACT or SAT. Application available from high school counselor.
