Assistant Professor – School of Counseling
The School of Counseling at Missouri Baptist University seeks nominees and applicants for a position as a full-time faculty member. The successful applicant will teach master’s-level core counseling courses, promote recruitment and retention of diverse students, and be actively involved in the school counseling and clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) counseling programs. The selected applicant will teach across various delivery platforms, including in person on the main campus, digital (asynchronous), and/or livestream.
The School of Counseling is composed of two counseling programs: the CACREP- Accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved School Counseling program. The clinical mental health program serves to prepare counseling students to become Licensed Professional Counselors, and the School Counseling program prepares counseling students to become Certified School Counselors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Counseling (preferably from a CACREP-accredited institution)
(ABD considered with an expected completion date). - Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a License Professional Counselor in Missouri and/or Certified as a School Counselor in Missouri.
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- Strong counselor identity, including scholarship, service, and experience in the field of counseling.
- Candidates must demonstrate strength and flexibility to teach across core counseling courses.
- Candidates must embrace a student-centered approach and have a passion for serving students.
- Candidates must commit to intentionally integrating faith and learning in counseling courses.
Applicant is expected to teach, attend bi-weekly faculty meetings, hold a minimum of eight hours of on-campus office hours, participate in university committee(s), and mentor counseling students.
