Professional Development Folio - Missouri Baptist University (Mobap)

Professional Development Folio

Professional Educators using reflection and problem-solving to make informed, ethical decisions

The Professional Development Folio demonstrates what candidates have learned through coursework and field experiences, addressing all nine of the Missouri Teacher Standards (or seven Missouri Standards for School Librarians) established by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Folio process requires the inclusion of reflections and artifacts which highlight the candidate’s current educational and personal experiences in diverse educational settings.

Candidates will begin the Folio process in EDUC 201 Professional Growth and Folio Development I, which must be taken second semester of the sophomore year or first semester of enrollment for students transferring with a class rank of junior or higher.  Drafts of the nine of the Missouri Teacher Standards will be embedded assignments in various courses within the curriculum (see page 63 of the Professional Development Folio Guide for Teachers and Library Media Specialists, 6th Edition, Revised, which is the required text for EDUC 201, available below).

Candidates will complete their Folio in EDUC 401 Professional Growth and Folio Development II, which must be taken the semester prior to enrolling in EDUC 471 Student Teaching Seminar.  Passing the Professional Development Folio is required for conferral of undergraduate professional education degrees as well as for recommendation for certification for all candidates, including post-baccalaureate/graduate.  The folio must receive a final evaluation of pass or pass with distinction prior to the beginning of the student teaching semester.
