Gustafson named Employee of the Year for 2022

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist University has named Erik Gustafson, ’16, Employee of the Year for 2021-22. MBU President Dr. Keith Ross presented Gustafson with the award at the annual President’sParty, held Friday, August 26, 2022, in the Great Hall on the University’s main campus in West St. Louis County.

Gustafson, who is assistant director of online education, was chosen by MBU’s full-time faculty and staff as an employee who “demonstrates a positive attitude, a commitment to quality work and servant-leadership,” Ross said.

“What an honor,” said Gustafson. “It came as a surprise to me. I am grateful to the university for acknowledging my contributions to the incredible MBU community. I have something of a unique role here because I interact with students, faculty and staff, and it’s a privilege to serve all of them to the best of my ability. The atmosphere is great,the people are amazing, and I truly feel I can thrive in the work that I do,” said Gustafson, who graduated from MBU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. He also holds a Master of Arts in higher educationadministration from the University of Louisville.

The University also recognized new faculty and staff members, as well as employees reaching milestone anniversaries with MBU. Honored for 25 years of service were Heather Brase, Dr. Andy Chambers, Eric Schertz, JohnShaw and Laurie Wallace. Recognized for 30 years of service were Kim Grey and Dr. Ross.

Longtime employees Dr. Cathy Benton, Stephen Heidke and Michael Krone were also recognized for their years of service and recent retirement from MBU.
