MBU trustees receive COVID-19 planning update

MBU Trustees received updates regarding the University’s COVID-19 planning and preparations at their regularly-scheduled meeting Aug. 27.

The University welcomed students back to campus Aug. 24 after transitioning to an online learning format in March amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Students completed the remainder of the spring semester remotely.

Faculty and staff, along with the University’s COVID-19 Action Team, worked for months leading up to the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure the health and well-being of the campus community. In late July, the University launched Spartan Strong: MBU Returns to Campus, which communicates the University’s plans to students, employees and visitors.

In other news, the Board:

  • Affirmed the appointment of Ms. Andrea Cox as assistant professor of counselor education.
  • Adopted a resolution of appreciation for benefactor Glenda Smith who recently established the Shelton E. Smith endowed scholarship in honor of her late husband and longtime MBU faculty and administrator. Members of the President’s Club, which is comprised of donors who have given $1,000 or more to MBU in the last year, were also recognized.
