Student Missouri State Teachers’ Association (S-MSTA)

The Student Missouri State Teachers’ Association (S-MSTA) is a pre-professional organization composed of education students and others interested in teaching as a career. The chapter seeks to provide its members with opportunities for personal and professional growth, the development of leadership skills, a better understanding of the teaching profession, and participation in professional activities at the local and state levels.

MBU requires that you have liability insurance through S-MSTA when you are in the classroom observing or student teaching. S-MSTA membership includes $2,000,000 in liability insurance. There is no cost for membership. Students need to apply online at https://my.msta.org/NC__Login for the annual membership (July 1-July 1). Proof of membership must be submitted to the Field Experiences Office on the Main campus prior to beginning your observations, field experience, or student teaching.

Kappa Delta Pi

Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education, with a national membership of undergraduate and graduate students, university faculty and administrators, classroom teachers, school administrators, retired educators, Laureate members, and honorary members. Its purposes are to promote excellence, recognize honor students, and acknowledge outstanding contributions to education. The Missouri Baptist University chapter is open to high achieving students planning careers in the field of education.

National Association for Music Educators (NAfME)*

National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) is a national organization for college students interested in teaching music. It provides opportunities for professional growth, introduces students to the music education profession and professionals and provides networking opportunities among NAfME members from other universities. The NAfME also assists MBU’s music department throughout the year.

Student Council for Exceptional Children is a student chapter of the international organization Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) which advocates for the education of children considered disabled.
