MBU’s Office of Student Accessibility Services serves incoming new students who are applying for housing accommodations at Missouri Baptist University. The process can take time, so please read the instructions below carefully and know we are here to help! We care for you!
How to Apply for Housing Accommodations as an Incoming New Student
Step 1: Submit a ResLife Housing Accommodation
You must submit a COMPLETED housing application through ResLife before applying for housing accommodations. Apply for housing through ResLife here.
Step 2: Submit Medical Documentation
All accommodations reviewed are based on a documented disability that is hindering equal access to housing. Housing accommodations are not part of a treatment plan or a student’s preference. A letter from a licensed medical professional (doctor/counselor) helps substantiate the student’s diagnosis but does not dictate the approval. You will receive instructions providing more details about documentation when you contact our office about housing accommodations. Please allow up to two weeks for review once we receive your medical documentation.
Step 3: Wait for Decision
Once the documentation is received and reviewed, our office will contact you about an office appointment to discuss the accommodation decision. If our office does not receive a reply after two attempts, the accommodation request will be considered inactive.
Step 4: Submit Release Form
If you are approved for a housing accommodation, you will receive an accommodation application/release form which you should complete and submit back to our office. This release form allows us to provide you the accommodation.
Step 5: Share HSA
If approved, our office will create a HSA (Housing Specific Accommodation) for you. The HSA will be sent to your MBU student email. It is the student’s responsibility to share the VISA with ResLife. The HSA is valid from the issuance date through the end of the current academic school year.
